Retrocardiac mediastinal foregut duplication cyst
AbstractForegut duplications occur at various locations throughout the upper gastrointestinal tract, including the thoracic cavity. Thoracic foregut duplications are typically intimately associated with the esophagus and therefore are located in either the posterior mediastinum or in pleural cavity. Here we report a case of foregut duplication of the middle mediastinum, intimately associated with the pericardium and great vessels that contained gastric mucosa, ciliated respiratory epithelium, bronchial-type epithelium, pancreatic tissue and hepatocytes. The literature of mediastinal foregut duplications is also reviewed
Malignant transformation of ovarian mature teratoma: 04 cases report, review of the literature
Mature ovarian teratomas or dermoid cysts are the most common ovarian germinal tumors and account for 20 to 25% of ovarian organ tumors. The malignant transformation of a mature teratoma is a rare event (1 to 3%), mainly found in the post-menopausal period. This is carcinomatous degeneration (80% of cases) or sarcomatous differentiated tissues of the dermoid cyst. The diagnosis of certainty is established by anatomopathological study of the surgical piece. Treatment of carcinoma teratomas is surgical and same to ovarian malignant epithelial tumors. We report four cases we managed in our health care center with a review of the literature
Gastroblastoma in Adulthood-A Rarity among Rare Cancers-A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Gastroblastoma (GB) is a rare gastric epithelial-mesenchymal neoplasm, first described by Miettinen et al. So far, all reported cases described the tumor in children or young adults, and similarities with other childhood blastomas have been postulated. We report a case of GB in a 43-year-old patient with long follow up and no recurrence up to 100\u2009months after surgery. So far, this is the second case of GB occurring in the adult age >40-year-old. Hence, GB should be considered in the differential diagnosis of microscopically comparable conditions in adults carrying a worse prognosis and different clinical approach
Gastric duplication presenting as partial gastric outlet obstruction
Abstract We present a very rare case of gastric duplication treated with complete excision with two surgical procedures. We decided to report our case to share our experience that confirm the difficult of preoperative/intraoperative diagnosis of gastric duplication in a pediatric patient. Finally we reviewed the literature to date
Intraoral Foregut Cystic Developmental Malformations: Three cases with a brief review of literature
Foregut cystic developmental malformations (FCDM) are a type of rare cystic lesion. The occurrence of FCDM is exceedingly uncommon in the intraoral location. We report three cases of FCDM with intraoral location who presented at Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, New Delhi, India, in 2016, 2017 and 2018 with symptoms of respiratory distress and feeding difficulties. Two patients were male and one was female with an age range of 29 days to eight years. The clinical differential diagnosis included mucocele, ranula, dermoid, lymphangioma, teratoma, thyroglossal duct cyst, etc. All patients were treated with simple surgical excision and diagnosed, based on histopathology, with FCDM. These should be considered as differential diagnosis of head and neck midline cystic mass lesions. This case report aimed to discuss differential diagnosis and appropriate terminology for these cystic masses as there is varied and ambiguous nomenclature. Keywords: Bronchogenic Cyst; Cyst; Congenital Abnormalities; Oral Cavity; Case Report; India
